Steele-Dawson Public School (S-D)
Steele-Dawson has a modern public school system with programs designed for individuals interested in furthering their education in elementary and high school. The S-D school takes pride in their student's academic achievements. The students measure above the national average in all four areas measured by ACT with over 80% of graduating students choosing to further their education after high school. In a survey completed by senior students, over 85% feel they have a strong foundation in the use of technology and over 93% felt the school had high academic standards. The student to teacher ratio is 13 to 1. A new high school building was completed in 1995 and the school have a 25 acre recreation facility for public use that is adjacent to the school. This includes a swimming pool, tennis courts, softball and baseball diamonds, park and playground, picnic area, lighted football field, and a hard surface track. The school also offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities for students to participate in including football, boys' and girls' basketball, cheerleading, track, choir, band, swing choir, jazz band, drama club, annual staff, volleyball and baseball.
